Sarah is on maternity leave until early 2025
Hi there. I’m Sarah and I’m a director at Pivot Osteopathy.
I have been practicing as an Osteopath for over a decade and I still love it! I feel incredibly lucky that my work allows me to help people learn more about their bodies and how to care for them.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of issues, but I am especially interested in long-term, complicated problems that may have built up over time.
I have a particular interests in:
Low back and pelvic pain, including pudendal neuralgia sacro-iliac joint pain and tailbone (coccyx) pain
Endometriosis - in particular the muscular pain associated with this condition
Neck, shoulder, back pain and headaches, particularly those associated with working in an office environment
Pregnancy and Pre and post partum care, including pelvic pain (PGP/SPD), tailbone (coccyx pain), low back pain, preparation for birth, and the general body aches pain associated with growing and caring for a new human.
What you can expect from a consultation with me:
Fun, simple, small and targeted. These are the words I keep in mind when I’m working with you to figure out how to work toward being the most active version of you.
My treatment style usually includes some form of hands-on manual therapy. I use a wide range of techniques alongside education and targeted exercise. Hands-on techniques may include Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Counterstrain Techniques, Myofascial Release and Soft/Deep Tissue Massage, High Velocity-Low Amplitude HVLA (spinal manipulation techniques), balanced ligamentous technique (BLT) and Visceral techniques.
I cater each treatment to the needs and preferences of the person I’m working with.
Our habits are so important, which is why I place an emphasis on education. I believe that there is huge power in the tiny, simple changes we can all make that add up to big gains over time.
Qualifications and additional learning:
Bachelor of applied science (Human Biology) | Master of Osteopathy with honours | Fellow of Lifestyle Medicine.
I have completed additional studies in breathing through the BradCliff Method, women's health issues, particularly around chronic pelvic pain, pudendal neuralgia and endometriosis. I completed my master’s thesis on chronic low back pain, focussing on the importance of education in chronic conditions. My interest in chronic pain has lead to extensive additional training in the neurobiology of pain, which is useful for many conditions.
I am passionate about my work and love learning more.
I have a fellowship in lifestyle medicine, which means that I have additional skills to help you work on a management plan that extends far beyond muscular release of painful areas. We are complex beings and our everyday movements, habits, sleep and diet can affect our physical body.
